Martina Penazzato

Global Accelerator for Pediatric Formulations Lead,
Research for Health Department, World Health Organization

Martina Penazzato MD, MSc, PhD leads the Global Accelerator for Pediatric Formulations in the Research for Health Department of WHO. Prior to joining the Science Division she has lead the paediatric HIV portfolio at WHO for 10 years and in addition to providing a major contribution to several Guidelines development processes in the areas of HIV, TB and child health, she has provided technical assistance to several countries in the African region and beyond. In her current role she contributes to a number of global initiatives to improve access to better medicines for children as well as pregnant and lactating women and offers her maternal and child health perspective to a broad set of WHO’s activities enabling R&D for global health. Since Jan 2024 she is co-leading the WHO task force on pregnant and lactating women which gathers expertise and skills to promote timely inclusion of pregnant and lactating women in trials across diseases areas.
